DameJidlo.cz, part of the global startup Delivery Hero, offers a list of restaurants that deliver food right to your door! Customers can easily choose what they like, and have access to other customers’ ratings. Thanks to this app, you can now order food easily wherever you are - in the park, on the road, or at home next to your empty fridge.

01 Analysis

As time has gone by, we have taken charge of all the mobile applications that provide the purchasing process through DameJidlo - applications for restaurants and couriers as well as a client application designed for ordering meals by customers. The client app was a priority of ours. At the beginning, we wondered what users would expect from the application.

What will make it easier for them to decide and make using the app more enjoyable? We threw away extra and unnecessary features and minimized the number of ordering steps. Finally, we found a way to make the app more "user-friendly”.

02 Design

We designed a completely new client application - the initial illustrations can be seen in the screenshots. Unlike the old version of the mobile app, we made use of delicious and inviting pictures of meals that would be appreciated not only by #foodporn enthusiasts, but will greatly help customers make quick and easy choices. We have prepared even more great and brand new features that simplify ordering to the maximum. We will leave it to our users to discover it for themselves.

03 Realisation

We have prepared a complete functioning design, wireframe, and graphics for the new client application. With internal applications for couriers and restaurants we also focused on development and maintenance. We used Swift, Obj-C, and Java to develop the applications. The Firebase database was used for realtime functions.

For a courier application, for example, it was necessary to inform the server about the courier’s current GPS position so that the nearest courier could handle the specific order. To do this, we use a background service that runs whenever the courier’s position changes.

We wanted icons and illustrations to be clearly recognizable. Visual comprehensibility was a front-and-center task for us.
